Dealer stealing going on here 9,753.00 repair bill?????

The dealer just informed me the lift pump is bad and the injectors and everything to do with the fuel injection.

The bill is 9,753.00.........water contaminataion has screwed up all the fuel components.

I just paid the **** thing off and it only has 75,000 miles on it.

The dealer told me to contact my insuance company and said most likely it would be covered under my insurance.

does 4600.00 sound correct for 6 injectors?

900.00 freakin' dollars a piece.

I'm totally flabergasted by this chain of events.

That is ridiculous! I would ask for an itemized bill and start your complaining from there.

Yes that is crazy, but I had one put in on the road once and it cost me $1300 for one injector. You can buy a whole set off Don M at F1 for that kind of money. Dodge has a crazy mark up on their parts, if you have a local cummins dealer give them a call the parts for sure will be cheaper. If they have not done the work yet I would get it out of there.

Do you know where that bad fuel came from ?
Its not uncommon , and if they get multiple complaints , that goes to show & help your chasing them for repairs .

i would want to see everyone of the original parts to have it indipendantly inspected. If the water in fuel light came on there maybe some damage but $9300 is not even reasonable. did they give you an estimate before doing all the work.

Get a fuel sample also have that tested. Ive got three dodges in our fleet we had one bad batch of fuel in our onsite tank. all three went down. water in fuel lights came on and my guys drove them around for the better part of a day before they told the yard manager. The fuel supply company ultimately paid the bill but in two trucks the CP3 were not damaged, in one the CP3 developed a seal leak and was replaced. on the other two trucks only three injectors were damaged out of 18 possible to the point of needing to be replaced. the rest of the injectors were removed and tested minimal damage if any. thats 150-300 miles on each truck of fuel in water light being on and that usually takes alot of water.

I think you got a lazy tech who just said water in fuel..... warranty denied due to contaminated fuel. Replace everything without testing anything.

Prepare to get a lawyer if they have already done this. in the mean while demand those old parts. demand the fuel sample. demand evidence that what they are claiming really occured. get the last fuel fill up reciept you had and contact the fueling company and the station to address if their insurance company is dealing with otherclaims fromt eh same day or tank.

this sounds like a hose job in the works. if they havent done anything tell them they are morons especially if they havent event dug into things and go get a second opinion for a cummins shop you'd be amaze how affordable cummins can be some times

You need to pick that truck up and go somewhere else right now. Don't have them touch that truck!! They do not know anything! Looking at your other thread the truck runs and might be something simple so I would get that truck and run and I mean run far from that dealer!!!!!!!!!

Great advise guys, go get-em dude ! I have found that the only way a person can trust a dodge dealer unfortunately, is to become great friends with a parts man, and a service manager.

DONT LET THEM TOUCH IT! they told me my trans had metal fragments in it when i brought it in to have injectors put in! so i pulled the pan when i got home and it was perfecly clean with no metal on the magnet at all. as far as im concerned the dealerships a the biggest scam i have ever seen. all they are good for is warranty work if they will do it

Which dealer? NE Florida?

If you are who I think you are, I will be happy to help out any way I can, including letting you take my truck to tow your boat if you need it. I am also decent company if you decide you want tackle this yourself.

ya know I've been thinking about this, this is the biggest lie you have ever been told. I have 5 small farm tractors and when they get water in the fuel the fuel filters isolate the water, they stop running, we clean, we go !

Picking it up from that Dealer and taking it for a second opinion.

injector pump 2230.00
injectors 4668.00
lift pump 382.00

The 24year disel mechanic i talked to said, he would only take out the fuel tank first to see what is in there for contamination..... Then go from there.

oh and labor 1735.50

and little items like shop supplies, etc

They tried to pull the old water in fuel = no injector warranty crap on me also but i had a local Cummins shop take a fuel sample and analyze it and guess what, no water. Then when i got back to the dealer they said it didn't matter anyways because injectors were a wear item and they still weren't going to cover it. So after some choice words with the manager they finally decided to replace the one injector that was the worst and leave the rest. That is why if i ever have another injector problem i will pull them myself and send them straight to Don....
