The 24year disel mechanic i talked to said, he would only take out the fuel tank first to see what is in there for contamination..... Then go from there.

oh and labor 1735.50

and little items like shop supplies, etc
This site https://www.dodgeparts.com/oe_parts_catalog.html quotes them
for $446.40.

Dude, i thought i had water in fuel as well, no light, but when the truck would hit 2000 rpm, it would DIE. Couldnt get up a hill near my house even. Empty at that... Thought it was the Quadzilla chip let go, nope. Thought it was the truck sitting for a month while i was out on the road, nope... Called the dealer, and they told my my tranny was low on fluid, asked why i didnt bring it to them for the 30k tranny flush, and that i had massive water in fuel, and my WIF sensor must be damaged. I told them no when they told me i needed a new Tourque converter, 3 new bands for the tranny, a new fuel pump, new wif sensor, new injectors... lets just say they werent going to cover it under warranty, and he gave me a rough estimate of "Around 15,000 Dollars" He had it in their garage for 15 minutes. 15. 15. 15!!!!! Turns out... Tranny WAS low on fluid. Put in ONE QUART. topping it off. Still, power bomb at 2000 rpm. Not the computer chip, still does it without the chip. lets replace the fuel filter. 12$ at Advance. Vroom. Starts right up. All the power it had before.
Goes to show, the BS they feed you. Brought it to another buddy of mine, who told me they wouldve needed to take the tranny apart to check out the bands.
Dont believe it all. It SOMETIMES is only a 12 dollar part.
Filter made it 16k miles... It WAS past due by a little...

are there any honest dealers of any brand anymore? I hear complaints about all of them. Vehicles are socomplicated, anymore thanks mostly, to epa mandates, that it's gotten ridiculous. My old 93 will be on the road for a long time, unless our fearless leaders, outlaw vehicles over five years old, like they do in japan

i just got my truck back, new cp3 , new front axle joints, 1 new stub axle, was shocked when they handed me the bill $100.00 . I know it is covered under the 7/70, but with all the bad experiences i was expecting to get bent over..i went in there ready to explode on someone and walked out smiling...but yeah that kinda money for injectors is loco.

Update......

I went to the dealer and asked to talk with the tech who was providing this information and got the skinny.

He had taken the fuel water separtor off. In the bottom of it was a milky powdery substance in his 24 years working on Diesels he has never seen before. He said it wasn't water contamination, bacteria contamination and could not figure out what the material was.
There was a sligh residue of same said material outside of the filler neck of which I took pictures of all this and turned it over to my insurance company. I am uploading the pictures and will put them here to show...not the best camera phone pictures but maybe a chance to show what was in there.

The material seem to look like sand but was not gritty, instead if you rubbed it between 2 fingers it would disappear like a real fine talc powder or a color of powder my wife puts on the face , a type of make up?

Fuel Filter housing pics:

Gas Filler opening...hard to see any residue but there was some there.

The insurance adjuster is coming to look at it on monday.
We'll see what happens then....

The comprehensive portion of your auto insurance should cover it. Let them go to bat for you.

I just went through this with Chrysler. When the dealer calls the tech support line and tells the person on the phone that the truck had or may have had contaminated fuel the tech guy tells the dealer to replace everything in the fuel system. That means 6 injectors, injection pump, lift pump, filter and housing, all fuel lines, fuel tank, sending unit, ect. That is Chryslers recommended repair. If you skip steps to save money and it does not work the tech guy once again tells you to replace everything in the fuel supply system. I heard it with my own 2 ears.

Technically, it isn't "stealing." They are just selling you a bunch of parts you probably don't need at horribly marked-up prices. You'll still have all the nice, new parts. Hopefullly they won't booger something up in the process of doing all that work.

Ever wonder why insurance is so high?

I am going through the same thing with my 6.7L. I know there was water in the fuel. I know the station that sold it to me and they told me the did not have water in the tank. I did not get a sample, my fault. Dodge quote is $18000.00, yes 18k dollars and insurance is talking about totallying out the truck, 19k miles on the truck and its been setting at the dealership sinc Jan 13...

all this makes me want to add another fuel water separator!! i already have a 2mic filter/water separator in addition to factory canister, but i wonder what you need to prevent one bad tank of diesel from ruining your truck?? these repair bills sure make extra filters look cheap.

I've been thinking a 20-30mic water separator to catch the big stuff and knock down some water first in line out of the tank, then an airdog with its additional fuel/water separator and a 5-10mic filter (instead of the 2mic), and then the glacier 2mic right before cp3 to polish it all off. Going from 30 to 10 to 2 mic makes it so each filter is only subject to a small size range of contaminants so each filter should last longer and be more efficient, plus you have two fuel/water separators to help stop injector death by h2o. I know its overkill, but seeing what a little water can do maybe not....
