Dealer stealing going on here 9,753.00 repair bill?????
I just had some injector troubles---just posted a thread about my experience with the dealer and what it cost me. After all the horror stories on here, and my own to boot, it was nice to have a good experience, and have my truck back.
You guys do understand that the service writers work on commission. It's tough times.. real easy to write up a huge bill and bring home some commission $$. Specially if it's a cash bill due to denied warranty.
I've been thinking a 20-30mic water separator to catch the big stuff and knock down some water first in line out of the tank, then an airdog with its additional fuel/water separator and a 5-10mic filter (instead of the 2mic), and then the glacier 2mic right before cp3 to polish it all off.
Well the insurance adjuster came by the dealership and looked at the contaminate in the filter housing took a sample, but left it there. He then told the mchanic that the tank needed to be dropped and he wanted a sample from it.
The mechanic I authorized on my dime(according to the adjuster) dropped the tank and I called the insurance compant and told them we were ready for them to come by and get a sample. Now mind you my truck is sitting there with the fuel tank off, water separator off the engine and the poor mechanic has to push it in and out of the shop bay to do anything while waiting on the adjuster. I think they are trying to wear me down.
I told the mechanic if the adjuster continues to be a slow at this I was going to light a fire under him.
The truck now sits at the service center waiting......They did not come by today for a sample. Thanks to several folks on here, if I have to pay for everything, I will be ordering injectors, injection pump and lift pump from recommended folks from here and do the work myself.
Next update hopefully Wednesday.

If the tanked is dropped I would make sure it's still inside and not outside unless properly covered. Insurance companies are always slow. Sucks to hear but I doubt they will do anything.
It doesn't matter how much filters you have if you get something bad in your fuel, it is going to get into things no matter what.

RONC I was told the warranty does not cover water contamination?
Update today Wednesday.
I called the insurance company today and stated this has gone on long enough and I was going to authorize the dealer to clean the tank out and filter housing and put it all back together. They would set aside a sample for the contracted company to analize.
After it was put back together, the mechanic knowing it had clean fuel could then do further analysis to see if in fact the injectors, injection pump etc are damaged.
The insurance company basically stated they would most likely be covering this any way and they agreed to putting it back together and then see what else may have been damaged. If the motor does not make the sounds as it did when I first went in there I plan to turn this over to an attorney for fraudulent insurance claims.
I can not stimulate Daimler Chrysler all by myself.

Daimler and Chrysler Split. So you would be just helping Chrysler
Thread after thread about this since 03.No one has really questioned about the water in fuel light NEVER seems to work! Thread after thread. They even get repaired and no one checks/troubleshoots the water in fuel light not working. The stuff your seeing in the filler neck and in the filter housing might be from a fire extinguisher.Did you happen to be at a motel/hotel or around any youguns partying? Had a friend last year that their Chevy Suburban got some stuff through fuel system.Wrecker driver knew exactly what it was when he saw it in the filler neck.Said he had pulled many over the years with that stuff in them.Panama City Florida Holiday Inn is where the Chevy got hosed.
It drives me nuts.
Dealers do not diagnose issues , they just throw parts at them .
Then on top of that , many shops may diagnose an issue , but it seems that few look for the original cause , much like our medical system , only treating the symptoms .
At least that's how I see it after 30 yrs of being either a tech or shop owner .
