Big Honken Air Filter

Just go to the top of the page under Tech Facts and then to frequent terms.

Ahh, ok, makes sense now. A BHAF might reduce smoke intake, but I think that the computer runs based on mass air flow. So a BHAF will provide more mass air, which the computer will then read and add more fuel accordingly.

If the truck is smoking like crazy, something's wrong. It's not supposed to. I would look into fixing whatever's actually causing the issue.

For what its worth, I believe they all make the distant knock/clatter during acceleration, especially cold. Mine does, and I dont think anything is wrong with it. Diesels make clattering noises!

Yeah, I've figured out that's what my paranoia probably was. I'm also not used to I6 diesels.

So far it looks like about 25% of people have injector problems. Certainly higher than there should be, but not as bad as some of the posts have been indicating. I'd still like to see more responses, though.

Ya I know what your talking abought. Mine always had a little diesel noise when accelerating but this is more than that. Like I said in anouther post it sounds like a GM 3.1 with cold score only not quite that bad. Its loud enough that people turn there heads and look with a funny look on there faces. When I had it in being looked at I drove threw the dealer lot when a few salesmen and coustomers where out walking around. They all stopped what they where doing to look around to figure out where all the noise was coming from. Brian at Star says thats normal and to keep driving it. Iwould like to drive it to his office and make him tell me to my face that it sounds normal after hearing it in person.
