This may be sound like a stupid question but, I was wondering if the new Turbo Cummins HO engine is a V6 or a straight 6? Also is there any place any the web where I can see the specs for the cummins (hp and torque) and also other manufacturer's engines? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks Bob

 

It's an in-line 6.

 

All Cummins mentioned are Inline-6, not a V6

 

Don't know offhand of any site which has the cummins torque/hp numbers and the others, but remember:<br><br>The Cummins are inline 6.<br>The Cummins produces it's torque at much lower rpm's than the V8 diesels.<br>Many fewer moving parts than the V8 diesels.<br>Beefier components than the V8 diesels.<br><br><br>phox

 

the '03 stats are: standard output--250 hp &amp; 460 ft. lbs. torque<br><br> high output--305 hp &amp; 555 ft lbs torque

There are three Cummins 5.9L engines in the 2003. In California and some New England states the only one available is a SO with 235 bhp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Maximum bhp for 250 bhp model is @ 2900 rpm whereas the 235 bhp version @2700 rpm. Both versions have approx. 330 lb-ft @800 rpm. The steepest portion of the torque curve is between 1100 rpm and 1400 rpm. At 1400 rpm the torque is 460 lb-ft and and remains 460 lb-ft to the rpm at which maximum bhp is reached either 2700 rpm or 2900 rpm at which torque starts to decline.
