Cummins or Dodge dealer
Where is a good place to buy a replacement engine oil pan? Mine was damaged before I purchased the truck. The local dodge dealer wants $660 and the local heavy equipment supplier wants almost the same amount. A place called mydodgeparts.com wants $360. Is there a better place to get replacement Cummins parts from? Does anyone have any experiences with mydodgeparts.com? Thanks for any input

It’s pretty bad. The previous owner was in a wreck in which it over a car. I purchased the truck from the insurance company. The body was not damaged but the front axle hit the engine oil pan. I replaced the front axle and will replace the transmission pan, which was also damaged, with a Mag-Hytec unit. There are not too many CTD trucks in my area so wrecking yards in this area are out of the question. Thanks for the Idea though, I’ll check the yards that sell online. If the difference in price between a used and new one isn’t more than a hundred dollars, I would rather just get the new one.

The trans pan is not a problem. Mag-Hytec and many other companies offer after-market units and they are easy to order online. I will probably end up getting the Mag unit. The engine oil pan is what I am looking for. I could not find any aftermarket parts companies making replacement oil pans for the Cummins engine though that will probably change. I would like a genuine Cummins replacement pan or one from a reputable aftermarket company. I am not willing to use knockoffs made in China but didn’t see any of those in my searches either.
It looks like I will have to lift the engine or pull it out to get the pan off has anyone had any experiences with pulling the engine oil pan?
Thanks for the replies.

From Cummins:
Part # - Product Type - Description - Price - Effective Date
3949769 - CECO - PAN,OIL - $403.92 - 5/9/2006
Pretty sure that's the one... price isn't real great IMO

try dodgeparts.com. they are $312. I imagine they dont get no cheaper than that. Ive purchased several things from that company and its oem stuff at close to the dealer paid price. I bought seat covers, auxillary power plug covers, seat adjust handles, and heater control panel and have never been dissapointed. same type setup as mydodgeparts but they dont charge as much for stuff
