Compression Cavitation?

I am new to Dodge and the 5.9 Cummins and have a question on coolant requirements. In the past I have run Powerstroke7.3 and it was important to keep the coolant in range to prevent compression cavitation. The additive I have used my Ford is made by Cummins Filtration and is labeled DCA4.

Are there any coolant additives that should be kept up on these 5.9 engines to prevent compression cavitaion? I have not seen much discussion on this issue; I know alot of commercial diesel trucks use DCA4 / DCA2. Any thoughts on this?

The G-05 coolant specified for the Dodge Ram CTD utilizes hybrid organic acid technology (HOAT) to minimize inhibitor depletion. It contains a blend of inhibitors designed to give a high degree of corrosion protection to engine components. Due to its nitrite content, this product is very effective for extended use without the need for supplemental additives. Therefore, there is no need for any additional additives during the service life of the coolant.

If I recall correctly, the Ford was a wet liner design, and needed the additive. The Cummins does not.

HOAT coolant like Zerex G-05 changed every 5 years is all you need.

That would be correct regarding the Zerex G-05 coolant. The Ford 7.3 required the SCA, however, I am not aware if it was a wet liner design.

The Mopar factory fill (HOAT) coolant provides 5 year or 100,000 mile protection. The Zerex G-05 coolant provides protection for up to 5 years / 150,000 miles. Just so you are aware, G-05 HOAT coolant is available in 3 brands.

1). Zerex G-05 Coolant - in a gold gallon jug, yellow/gold colored fluid usually available at NAPA and Carquest.

2). Mopar Hoat Coolant Embittered -in a black gallon jug, either orange or pink dyed fluid, avaialable at Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealers.

3). Motorcraft Premium Gold Coolant (PART VC-7A) yellow/gold colored fluid, available at Ford dealers and a few parts stores.

According to Zerex's web page, their G-05 is the Dodge factory coolant, just dyed red.
