cold smoky morning starts

Hey guys ,I have an issue here ,

Ok ,about the same time I had my bodylift put in I popped a code , p2609
Now this code had come a couple times before the lift ,I was told it was a relay and the dealer fixed it .
Then it happened again as I say when I got the lift installed .
Now they tell me I need a software update which will take two weeks to be written and installed to my truck .

Now since the body lift and since the code came up last time the truck starts like crap in the morning .
The code has not come up again since I was at the dealer but the truck never started like this before .

It starts up ,runs real rough for a minute ,lots of smoke ,grey black smoke , then smooths out and runs fine .

Starts fine all day just that first cold start of the day ,
I plugged it in last night to see if it would help it a bit but didnt seem to .

Has been about -15 celsius lately at night .

I cant get it in to the dealer until the second of January now ,

What do you think ? The truck never acted like this before when it threw this code, makes me wonder if it is related to the bodylift ?

P2609 = Intake Air Heater System Performance

I don't see how this code would cause the trouble you say you're having but, it does draw a lot of power from the trucks system. Probably the biggest draw the truck has.

I'd recheck all your connections that had to be undone in the install. Also make sure your grounds are nice and tight.

The truck may be running the way it does because the heater may not be working. This being the case, the truck isn't getting any help warming the intake air up for a easier start so, the cylinders are very cold. This will cause you to see the smoke you mentioned, even white smoke and rough start ups. Once warmed up, it's good to go.

Plugging it in should have helped but, 5 degrees is pretty cold.

Wanted to bump this up again ,
I had the truck in the shop yesterday for the software update to resolve my 2609 issue .
The truck still starts like crap ,they are going to keep it over night so they can start it and see what it is .

This almost has to be body lift related ,
It started doing this the next morning after I picked it up from the body Lift .
Starts and runs very rough for a minute with lots of black ,grey smoke .
But if I plug it in it starts nice and clean and smooth .

Or could my intake air heaters be buggered up ? and not throw a code ??

I'm choked ,,no truck again ,,had to drive me POS 91 ranger ,,made me walk a few blocks ,needs an altenator ,,lol

Any input on this issue ?
possible causes ?
