code p2149
Either your #4 or #6 injectors are bad. Search for the error 2149 on here and you should find a lot of info. I lost mine last year, #4 injector. The suggestion was to replace the valve cover as the wires can short out in the gasket and cause that code to trip. I did that first (not covered by warranty) and it seemed to fix it, then 50 miles down the road it tripped again and the injector bad (covered by warranty).

My truck threw this code at me a couple of weeks ago. I made it a few miles to where I was going, sometimes running on 3 cylinders. 30 minutes later, after calling a shop and trying to figure out what was going on, I started up the truck and it ran fine. I did go home and replace the fuel filter which was filthy. I have since put over 2,ooo miles on it without a problem and no additional codes. Should I worry? Or, just not go anywhere I wouldn't want to be stranded?

How common is this problem? Twice now my truck has had injectors replaced under warranty. Both times it has ruined a family vacation with the last occurring on Saturday. My truck is an '06 2500 with 75k miles and I'm concerned about the cost once I pass the 100k mark. Not to mention not being confident in the vehicle which until last year has been very reliable.
My 06 did this today. The dealer said this code means contaminants in the fuel rail. I changed the fuel filter & put the engine on 2500 for about three minutes. It cleared up & runs fine now. I think one of the injectors was trying to stick open. The injectors were put in at 88,000 miles & now I have 125,000 miles on it. Injectors shouldn`t go bad this often. On the other hand, maybe it won`t give me anymore trouble.
