Clutch or Thermostat

Last fall had electrical issue, computer, trans, fan clutch.

It now appears that the truck temperature fluctuates more than it did. Normal driving 200 or below, stop and go and it goes up to second zero in 200 so 215 or so. I used to hear the fan kick in and hum but not the new one.

Also notice that thru all of the re-programming the key fob now opens all of the doors with one push, used to be 1 is drivers, then 2 is all. So don't know if the gauge could just be little off and everything is fine or if there is something wrong.

Thanks for any advice.

Fan spins freely. How can I confirm that it is kicking in?

change your thermostat. also after market fan clutches can be a pain and that is a part that should be oem, if you put an aftermarket one in.

Thermostat is cheap and easy. Worth a try. Drain a quart or two out of the radiator into a clean bucket and remove the thermostat cover at the engine end of the upper radiator hose and swap out the thermostat. Bolt it back up and restore the coolant.

As for door lock/unlock, look in the owners manual. There's sure to be a procedure in there to change the lock sequence between 1 and 1-2 pushes.

Thermostat changed, incredibly easy. Time will tell if that was it or not.

Pulling a 3,000 LB boat 45-50 miles per hour for 10 miles, thru little towns. Truck heated up a little, same as before I changed the thermostat. When I put it in park it went into high idle, is this a protection system to cool it down?

How can I confirm that the fan is coming on?

Took it to shop, the computer says the fan is locked in 99% at idle. Just realized that 30 minutes just gets it to normal operating temp, the gauge shot above was after a detour so more than 30. Replaced the water pump this afternoon, 3 years old, seems to be better ran it for a while, even put it in 1(auto and ran at 1800 RPM) for a mile or so and it only got a needle above 200. Since the fan is ? brand I do not hear it kick on. Is it normal at idle with the air conditioner on for the AC to kick in and out?

Does the above photo seem to hot? It have never been that high, why is red line is 245?
My normal has never been a needle thickness over 200 and only for a minute.

when was the last time the tranny was serviced, as the bands and clutches wear there is more slippage, which in turn heats the fluid, causing temps to rise, around 50 the tc locks up below that as U speed up U notice the RPM follows the throttle, indicating the clutches are slipping, some slippage is normal, but as bands and clutch pack wear the slippage get greater, causing fluid to get hotter, only a question, but may help.;;

The tranny was re-built maybe 10k ago. Now with the fan/thermostat/water pump changed is this the new normal?

The old water pump looked fine, fins were OK, impeller seamed tight on the shaft. Could the pump be bad?
