Clutch going out?
Clutch going out?
I have an 06 six speed that makes a small tingling sound, almost like quarters rattling in your pocket when you depress or press the clutch. It is clearly coming from the around the transmission, and its not the throw out bearing, I just recently replaced it. The clutch has seemed to be a little weak at high rpms, but not real sure. Anyone had the same thing happen?

Could be the springs coming loose from the dual mass flywheel or possible a spring has let go from the clutch disk itself. Won't know for sure until you separate it and have a look. It's a PITA......I know, I took mine apart 3 times in a month and a half before I finally figured out I had internal problems with the tranny itself.
A few months ago I could feel a real rough grinding like feeling in the clutch when a let out of it, couldn't really hear anything, but it only did it for about a day and quit, and now this. A guy at the parts store said it could have been a spring that broke or another piece and it just broke off and settled at the bottom of the bell housing and thats why it quit.
I've heard needle and ball brg pilots make noise with the clutch operating and the input shaft spinning in the pilot brg. I don't know if you have a bushing or bearing. I've also replaced lots of bad throwout brgs that made noises. I've seen everything else worn out or broken I can't say I've ever seen a broken spring on anything but a throwout fork but I guess it could happen. Craig
Installed SB Con O in 07 G56 today. Throw out bearing was toast. There was lots of play in the DMF assy with clutch and pressure plate installed. I could grab the pressure plate and rattle in around. After new clutch install, truck starts and shuts down much quieter and smoother. I would agree with others that your DMF is toast. My truck has 87K, I've owned it since 42k with 25k miles towing 10k# trailer. Hope this helps.

I agree with MotulBob. Shuts down quieter now with no gear chatter. And my stocker was slipping a little even pulling the 5th wheel gently. You will have to change and the bill is big but you only do it once.
