About the only special tool I can think of for that job is a fan hub wrench. IIRC its just a 36 mm thin wrench that slips between the fan and the front of the motor. I never use the pully holder as I loosen the fan before I take the belt off.

I just pulled my fan about a month or so ago, I just ground down a wrench and mad eit fit onto the fan nut, and worked good, I put cardboard between the fan and rad so I didn't have to pull the rad. have to pull the fan shroud out with the fan. took the bolts out of the fan hub and fan comes off

I just replaced mine about two hours ago. I used:
- 13mm socket/combination wrench for the (4) fan shroud nuts
- 10mm socket/combination wrench for the (1) bolt that holds the fan harness bracket
- 36mm fan hub wrench (you can rent a kit from Autozone, part number 27018)
- Fan pulley wrench (you can rent it from Autozone, part number 27270)
