CI-4 / CI-4+ in California (non CJ...!) search...
Ok - I will take the next week off and go to every oil place in San Diego to find a source for real CI-4+ oil. I think I owe that to my truck... He is always there when I need him and brings me from A to B in a safe way and with pride!
And what I do in return? …give him the bad CJ-4 stuff… (If I were him I would be ****** too…)
I will check if I can get the Valvoline Premium Blue Classic. Maybe I can order it somewhere and they deliver it to Cali (sneaking it around the tree huggers)… Is that oil trafficking?
Any ideas where I should start?
I just thought about Cummings Marine applications. They might still have the good Valvoline Premium Blue Classic oil, right? And we have a big port here in San Diego, where they should have a Cummins Marine shop, etc. – see ya at the harbor…

I found this at my local autozone in quarts. 3.99 a quart. The label on the back says CI4+, but the oil can says its good for low emission engines requiring CJ4 oil.
Go down to autozone and they should have it.. See what you think.. Since the api label says CI4+ and not CJ4 like everything else, maybe its still CI4+ oil..
I dont know.

Go to a John Deere dealer as stated. Get the 15/40 plus 50. That is the name of it. The plus 50 means you are supposed to be able to run it 50% longer. It is CI+4. Has all the good stuff in it. No donut on it as they (JD) say they are not going to pay for the privilege. About 13 or 14 bux a gallon. I have heard it is Delo. That is what I plan to run in mine when time to change it. Good luck.

banana check on Valvoline Extreme cj-4 ci-4+ ci-4 ch-4 cg-4 cf-4 cf/sm You can go to Valvoline web site and look it up it looks like it might be ok. I will do some more checking it out. It says on the site it is for the 07 up the Classic has an sulfate ash %1.6 extreme ash is only 1.0 so the classic has more wear protection. that is good for older trucks that is from 07 down.
