Convert to non-egr / california
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how to convert a 97 12 valve to a non-egr model (ie take the california emissions crap off)? I bought mine in california and would like to know who to take it to get it converted and how much it will cost?
Thanks,
Nate

Re:Convert to non-egr / california
I converted mine myself a few months ago...just remove the intake horn and EGR crossover tube. Cut the tube off at the flange and make a plate to cover the hole and bolt the flange back down on the exhaust manifold. I put on a non EGR intake horn that a friend gave me, but you can use the old intake horn if you block off the EGR valve hole. I have not noticed any performance change but not sucking in a bunch of sooty exhaust into the engine has got to be an improvement of some kind.

Re:Convert to non-egr / california
I saw a truck in North carolina That had athis egr setup on it. It was really simple. I would have thought thew boost would pushed right past the intake without ever going throught the engine.
seems like the truck would run like a ford
lmao

what about the computer check engine light. My EGR gone bad and signaled the computer check engine light on. it has an effect on the intake manifold temperature. Have you found a way to cancel the signal to the computer?
