Help with transfer case
Help with transfer case
Long story but my transfer case has been dry for a few thousand miles in Baja for a good portion of this winter withou my knowledge. Now they are recomending a re-man from the factory. They are going to give me 15% off but I am still looking at $1500 installed. If anyone has any better ideas, I would be grateful. The main problem is it is leaking fluid for where the rear driveshaft exits. Thanks
Re:Help with transfer case
If you are good with the wrenches, get the kit and rebuild it yourself. Otherwise, do a search on-line and get a commercial rebuilder like Transmission Exchange to give you a quote.

If is is just a seal, the last one I did was $12, and a half an hour of my labor. You will see where the seal can be pulled right on the truck after you drop the driveline.
Re:Help with transfer case
I had the same problem, but mine came apart and almost left me stranded 600 miles from home. Call a couple driveline shops and ask if the rebuild t-cases. I took my truck to a local shop and the rebuilt it for $750. They did a full inspection of all the parts and replaced the what was needed and all the bearings. It also came with a 3 month 3000 mile warrenty.

Transfrecases.com sells NEW t-cases for $995 and a reman for $650, the site is transfercaces.com. You just have to do the work yourself.

I was going to order one through them but I need my truck for my buisness and couldn't wait for shipping.
