My check engine light comes on for 15 seconds with key in before starting, then flashes for 5 seconds. Owner's manual that came with truck states that this means "vehicle is not ready for emissions testing." Been to dealer and they have no clue. Getting the run around. Any info would be appreciated.

I think I've read previous posts about owners clearing the "check engine" lights by disconnecting BOTH batteries and leaving the headlight switch in the "on" position for at least 5 minutes or so. You may want to give that a shot and see what happens. Maybe your particular instance is a hiccup or fluke.

My 03 had the check engine light on all day about 2 weeks ago while on a trip. Next day it was off and has not come on since.

I chalked it up to loose electrons in one of the computers.

If the light does not stay on and there are no codes, all you'll get from a dealer is the dummy treatment.

 

Thanks Guys. This has been happening for about 2 months now. Check engine light came on a couple of days ago and then went off after a few starts and left code p-1757 that dealer can't find with scanner. I think this may be a different issue though. Hopefully another dealer will know a little more about my truck. Thanks...Rick
