Can't disable Seat belt chime
Need your help. Had a new tank lift pump installed and fixing dealer wiped out my flashes that had the high idle enabled. I took it to my selling dealer for a reflash which he did and they activated my high idle but said they had to do the back-up recall even though I asked not to have it. Sorry for the long intro, but now I took out my manual and tried to deprogram that seatbelt dinging.Question: Did this new flash over -ride my disable,or am I doing something wrong, out of order or what? Does it have to be started or just turn the key to the on position? I use my seatbelt on highway but not on the farm.Really nice during Deer season. Might as well blow off fire crackers and light some early morning flares.

When you do this, do as the instructions say, just do NOT do it "more times". I think the instructions say 3 or more times within so many seconds. Do not do the "or more times", only the three times. I had a fit with this on my '04.

I got tired of mine dinging so I took the plug loose at the seatbelt latch, stripped a little of each wire, then twisted them together and taped it up. No more ding!

Verbatim from the Manual:
1. With all doors closed and the ignition switch in any postion except On or Start, buckle the driver's seat belt.
2. Start the engine and wait for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver's seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds (I did it exactly three), ending with the seat belt buckled.
4. Turn off the engine. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.
The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be reactivated by repeating this procedure.
NOTE: Although the Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) has been deactivated, the Seat Belt Warning Light will continue to illuminate while the driver's seat belt remains locked unbuckled.
