Boost Pressure for Stock 2005 CTD

I just bought my second CTD (last one was a 95) and I'm considering adding gauges to it. After searching this site and reading everything I can find, it looks like Boost, Pyro and Trans Temp would be most useful to me.

I don't plan on any major mods other than maybe air intake and later on a chip to improve mileage and maybe slight power boost. I will be towing a 8000lb camping trailer on 1000-2000 mile trips.

ISSPRO lists 30 psi and 60 psi boost guages, which is the best fit for a stock setup? What is a "normal" stock boost pressure reading?

Thanks for your help, great site!

first of all welcome to the DTR! The 05 trucks have been known to hit 40-45 PSI of boost completely stock. deffinately get the 0-60psi gauge. it's the same price and have more room to mess with

My 04.5 has hit 34 psi completely stock, WOT. If the 05s are hitting 40-45 stock, then DC really made some MAJOR programming changes. That's the first post I've seen in several of these "what boost stock" questions on here and TDR that listed numbers that high for a stock truck.

Maybe not horsehauler - or maybe your gauge is off. If you're gettin' that stock - more power to ya!

Thanks guys,

You answered my question in any case, the 60 psi gauge is the way to go.

I went with the 0 - 35 Boost gauge as my 05 hits about 34 - 35 stock. I don't see me adding any boxes due to $$ for a year or so and I like to watch the needle sweep the whole gauge compared to getting a 0 - 60 and watching it go up only 1/2 way or so. Just love watching it swing around the clock....

But that is only me, knowing that when I start really bombing, I will need to purchase another gauge.
