blowby ?
What is an acceptable amount of blowby. Im referring to the tube that runs down in front of the starter. Im finding alot of oil residue on my tranny cooler lines and on the block. And when the truck is idling there is a slight fog haze coming out of that tube. Let me guess, thats bad news. Thanks for input.

Sorry didnt see your post. What other signs did you notice? Did motor run different? Does anyone have an idea where i could get an compression tester adapter for this motor?

Turbo?
So your saying the turbo shot a crap and then you had the symptoms? All my problems started when my input shaft broke and the motor was free spinning for a few seconds. You know how it does when you try to rev it up in neutral and it just hangs there for a few seconds then stairsteps down. Now that tranny is back in im noticing the after effects of what happened when the tranny shot a crap.

If I work the dog out of my truck and it is cool outside I will get a slight mist coming out of mine. The weather has to be cool to get it. If you aren't loosing any oil, I wouldn't worry about it. My truck has done it since I have had it and looses no oil. As long as you are not using oil, I wouldn't worry about it.

I agree with spooler, these engines have a large amount of blowby. Keep an eye on the amount of oil the engine is burning/leaking before you start tearing down.
