BHAF - Need advice for install along with intake answers

Guys - I have my BHAF and would like some suggestions. Does any one have any good suggestions of holding the filter in a 2004.5 besides just laying it under the hood? Also, if I am doing the filter, do you suggest any aftermarket intake parts to buy and if so, what benefit do they give you? I don't see how an aftermarket intake will do anything on a boosted engine.

Any response / suggestion would help and yes, I need to get an outwear for the filter.

Thanks

SAS

i redid my intake using a couple rubber 90 deg elbows and some aluminum piping. i used two large hose clamps threaded into each other to grip a piece of 1" flatstock that i bent to screw under the hood. theres a thread on here somewhere for diy BHAF and torque tube. possibly by hoss. i copied his morphed with someone else's write up on here.

FYI, i dont run an outerwears and have had no problems in ~2 years. i dont deal with snow though either

My BHAF is just laying there (wrapped in an Outerwears). I bought a replacement for the upright that has the vanes in it and pulled the silencer ring (I see you did that). Other than that it's OEM. Honestly, it's not as loud as I hoped it'd be, but OTOH, it's not obnoxious towing, either.

I read once that opening up the intake and exhaust on an otherwise stock engine might actually reduce power. I do believe, however, that freeing things up will keep your EGT's marginally in check if you do a programmer or box later.
