Trip to Dallas Auto Show on weekend....19.7 mpg at 67-70mph...tach between 1800-1900 rpms (315's installed). Overhead console said anywhere from 18.8 to 20.5. Computed gallons to miles on calculator. Tonneau Cover made no difference in fuel mileage.

Thanks for the info. How does the vehicle handle with the big tires? Is it harder to park without rubbing the sidewalls on the control arms?

AFE air filter is a good choice to. just dont expect a huge change though.
Aerodynamics has a lot to do with it to, bed cover goes a long way there!
Intake and exhaust are without question two of the cheapest ways to get a couple more mpg. Personally the straight pipe does sound good. BUt, for long trips it can get real old. There are many companies that make very low restriction mufflers that don't increase noise.
2 cents

With hail storms in the southern part of the US, someone just might unintentionally.

Vehicle handles fine, ride is a bit "throaty" for lack of a better term. But all the BFG AT's cause a different ride. Yes, right front rubs a little bit on full lock going into parking area. So, I just don't turn as hard...besides, I don't want to park my truck in that tight of a space anyhow. I could install the 2" leveling kit to help correct the rub at full lock, but not right now....

The 2" leveling kit. Do you have a link to someone that sells it? Don't laugh too hard, but my wife drives my truck to work and is complaining (I drive Ford festiva go cart beater for 120 mile roundtrip to work and back). I back into most spots, so it doesn't really concern me, but I'm afraid she is going to blow a tire. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

really shocked to hear the tonneau cover didnt help, I've put them on 2 other pickups I've owned and noticed at least a small improvement, but those trucks werent diesels either. only thing I can think of would be that an empty diesel has enough torque not being used cruising down the highway that the extra drag from aerodynamics is not as important. (NOT a bad thing!)
Your pushing the 20 MPG mark with a 8,000 lb truck and no gas motor is going to do that!
Have any of you guys with the straight pipe kept notes on mileage???
