better milage after adding a comp?

So today i installed a hyper tech chip for my ram and after driving it on the freeway, at same speed as normal im suprised to see a 4-6 mpg increase at freeway speeds.

at 60mph i get about 20-22mpg.

tacking about 2000rpms

now same rpm same mph im seeing 25-28mpg?

at 55 im seriously close to 40mpg? this is on 3 diff freeways going about 15miles and flat ground?

Are my eyes decieving me? or are other guys seeing gains like that?

o and this is at power level 3 so what like 66hp and 138lb feet torque.

Once you add a comp or programmer you cant trust the overhead (it's innacurate to begin with). The comp/programmers mess with the formula that the engine computer uses to measure the mpg.

Ex.- On my truck the overhead says 19.2 but hand calculated, I am really only getting 17.4.

when all else fails, break out the old pen & paper. This is where rumors are started about massive mileage gains. But for some reason they are still burning the same amount of fuel in the same amount of miles. Its amazing how some people put all thier trust into a little computer.

Ive had people tell me that they are getting 19 miles per gallon towing since their chip install. I ask if they have done a hand calc, and they say no. Funnyhow they never want to add it up in front of a crowd after making that statement....

NO big deal, i really just got it for more power pulling grades when towing thats it. I am pretty light on the petal commuting
(stays on cruise at 60-65)

I must say though for the money im pretty happy with the result, Its alot more fun to drive it!
