Yes, my mega slips on the output shaft now. When I installed it last weekend, I slipped it all the way forward to check clearances and tightness, then had to pull back toward the axle (not sure exactly how much) to get the bolts in. There's plenty of travel there.

I agree that people will do what they will. I'm just tired of reading about how 2-piece driveshafts are "inferior" and that a fever seems to have set up about the replacement with a 1-piece. In that post of mine I linked I also described how I wanted and found a very experienced man to diagnose the problem (yes, the shaft needs to be removed and the u-joints dissassembled) as all shops are not equal. Some WILL be better than others.

My thinking is this: at some future point there "may" be good information about one-piece shafts being retrofitted, and lasting above 150,000 miles. But first I have to weed my way through the guys putting more weight, load or horsepower against the DS: I have to filter for abuse before I can reasonably ascertain the added costs.

I hope it works . . I certainly "like" the advantages of one-piece.

just an FYI.. I have a one piece shaft.. It has been giving me issues above 68mph. I just had it rebalanced. The yoke on the shaft at the tcase was out of round. AAM put a ton of weights on it to counter the assembly issue.. The driveshaft place heated and made it straight. There was at least 8 weights on the shaft.

If you have issues at speed have the shaft rebalanced. Everything that is AAM on this truck has been junk.

good luck its a good upgrade. i went one piece because it was cheaper then rebuilding my two piece . Alot of the AAM driveshaft parts have very lonmg wait times.

Whats done is done and there isnt any way anybody is going to change their mind if their happy and it works for them.

Honestly the only benefit the one piece gave me was the weight diffrences...if thats even a benefit.

No way the two piece is 100lbs. I'd say 50ish tops. The one piece is probably 25-30.

You also lost the POS carrier bearing and a U-joint. Those are just two more things that you don't have to worry about replacing.
