Before I drain the diff...

...can somebody tell me if there's a specific gasket, or is it RTV ?
It's an '06 with 16k miles, half of that is hard towing.
Thanks in advance.

The one on it is reusable...just clean it off, rub a little oil on it and reuse it

See, when I did mine, I took out all the top half bolts and just loosened the bottom half until all the fluid started draining out...then I took them out the rest of the way from the top to the bottom and my differentials just fell off...I didn't have to pry or anything.

Same here...

Loosened them all up, took all but two bolts on the top off and it popped off(both of them)

Only problem I had was filling the front back up, but I just stuck some 3/8" hose over the end of the nipple on the bottle and filled it up. Kind of a bad angle to squeeze the bottle in between the steering tie rod/diff

When ever i take off a diff cover, i do just the opposite. I start at the bottom and leave one loose at the top. That way i'm not getting my hands full of fluid when removing the remaining bottom bolts. Everybody has their own way of doing things that suit them. That's just mine. Not saying it's any better, that's just what i do.
