bad lift pump?

I was driving home from work yesterday and went to pass a car when i stepped on it the engine started surging really bad like it was running out of fuel. I got home and turned the smarty back to stok its alot better now but if im crusing down the highway i cant get anything over 2100 rpm. I just replaced the fuel filter about 4000 miles ago so im guessing thats not it but im going to drop a new one in it today just to see. truck has 102,000 miles on it and as far as i know it still the original lift pump. im guessing its the lift pump, any other ideas would be great before i spend the money on a new pump

thanks
Matt

i tried a new filter in it this morning and before i tried starting it i turned the key a few times and rolled the engine over to fill the canister. when i started it, it ran for a few seconds then shut off like it ran out of fuel. i did notice when i first turnede the key i could not hear the pump running like i used to, insterad it was just a clicking sound. after this im guessing its the pump. thinking about putting an air dog on it should i go with the 100 or 150 and how hard are they to put in?

Go with the Airdog 100. Plenty of fuel and easy to install. No need to install a draw straw.
