Bad Fuel - Bad Damage
Well guys I was pulling my 30ft lowboy with 2 jeeps on it and got some really bad fuel in Dallas. I have to have the following replaced at SHELL's dime
Injector Pump, Fuel Manifold, Transfer Pump, Injectors and drop and clean the tank.
The truck would only hold about 55 MPH after it all went to heck. It could only get up to about 1500 RPM's before it wouldn't pull anymore. I have to call a Duramax freind to come get my trailer and I limped it to the closest dealer to my house. At least I made it back to Houston on Sunday.
What is interesting is I burned through half the tank before it shut down.
Dealer told me parts cost alone is 9K. Shell is gonna be happy!!
Thanks,
Jay

Well Shell hasn't owened up yet. That is what my insurance company is doing for me. It was obviously not my fault and that is all that matters.
Ouch.
I've seen a few posts on stuff like that. Save your fuel ticket, and maybe it would help if the local diesel shops had other people who also got fuel there.
I wonder if a 2 micron fuel filter would have saved the CP3, manifold and injectors?

I wonder if it really needs all that replaced.I have read posts where the owner took truck home, drained and cleaned tank, flushed lines, new fuel filter and WOW it started and drove fine.Curious to a fuel sample and what the report on it would read.

Update - the insurance company came out and took fuel samples. They then about 6 hours later approved the repairs. You may be right and I don't need all that replaced, but if I can get it replaced now I will let them do it.
I am using Tomball Dodge as it is 2 blocks from my house.
Total bill is 8,620 bucks.
So now I get to drive a commander for 4 days while it gets repaired - better then a kia rio which enterprise first tried to put me in.
