auto tranny question

I have 2 questions/problems.First,my truck wont shift at WOT, Ihave to back off of the throttle so it will shift, otherwise it just hangs at red line.It is really frustrating when trying to pass someone.Second, There is no difference when in tow/haul mode.I can push the button at say 55, truck will downshift/unlock converter for a few seconds and then right back to normal.I thought it was supposed to keep the revs up to help towing in the hills. Any Ideas? 147000 no mods.

The no shift at WOT throttle is probably the goernor solenoid/transducer problem that is prevalent on these transmissions. You can replace with the factory pieces or try an performance mod from PATC.

Tow Haul on an 05 is a shift modification program. It no longer locks out OD and keeps the rpm's high. What it does is lock the TC sooner and firmer and hold the gears longer under loaded acceleration. The down side is it tends to shift back and forth a lot at speeds under 60 mph when loaded.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
On first issue: I would think a check of throttle pressure would be first to inspect. Tranny throttle lever must be fully forward with no slack or preload at closed throttle.

my 2004 did the same exact thing, it shifts fine on light throttle but if u mat it to the floor its like it's in neutral and red lines until you let off. well dont worry your problem is going to be fixed for about $130.00 all you need is a government pressure solenoid, and a gov. pressure sensor. one of those two is your problem but just buy them both to be safe, takes about 20 mins tops to install on your valve body. if your truck is like mine it will run fine after those replacments.

The dealer. I just replaced mine for the same problem and the parts guy told me that they always change the transducer and the solenoid at the same time. He said they run hand in hand. Made sense to me. If i remember right one was 125 and the other around 75. Might as well do it while you have the pan off.

Only if you want o over pay like 200% for the SAME part. Here is a better price than the dealer. Sensor is on the same page, about $50 a piece.

update

Well I finally got around to putting in the parts today and wow its like a different truck. It will actually pull through all the gears now. I know I should have done this sooner but its right in the middle of calving season so free time is hard to come by right now. Thanks for the help.
