Auto stalling in reverse?
Auto stalling in reverse?
I had it happen for the first time this morning, I put it in reverse (No trailer or weight in bed) and started to back out of a parking stall, it's a very-very slight incline as you back out maybe 1" for every 1.5'. My wife said it's happened to her a few times. Does the TC lock up in reverse?
Being the trans does not pump fluid in Park, if the TC drained its fluid it may act this way when you first put it in gear until the TC gets filled back up. So next time put the Trans in to N for 10-15 seconds before you back up and see if it still does this and if so then you have a problem if not then is the TC draining its self when parked over night. If the TC drains you just need to wait with the trans in N to get fluid back in to the TC before you back up. FYI to make the trans pump in Park you need to mod the valvebody in the trans.
That's the weird part, I drove from home to my Daughters preschool (2 miles), shut her down while I waited for the wife to take her in (1-2 minutes). I then started her up, waited for oil Pressure to come up, put her in reverse, got about 6-7 feet in reverse and then she just stumbled and died? I restarted immediately and continued in reverse with no problem.
I've only witnessed this once in 35,152 miles so far, my wife says it's happened several times to her and it's always after she has driven her for a little while.
Course our driveway is sloped, but I park nose up so I basically just coast backwards out of our driveway in the morning.
