Anyone try polishing or chroming the 03 Alloy rims?

I'm buying some for a really good price and I'm thinking of either getting them polished or chrome plated. Has anybody done either of these?
I currently run the stock chrome clad rims but one of them has the whole outer ring of the chrome cover breaking off and it looks like it's caused by the 315s being just a bit too wide and pressing on it. I was going to buy one rim on e-bay but I am getting a full set of alloys for only twice that price.
Once I get these, along with some new tires, I will probably sell my other rims/tires individually to anyone who wants a spare w/ 315s on it. My current tires still have about 10,000 miles left on them but I'm thinking about going to 285s this time depending on if I win the auction or not. If I do go to 285s then I will also sell my spare which has a brand new 315 on it...

I had a set of sport bike wheels done (chromed) about 8 yrs ago by a place in Indiana. I found them in the back of Car and Driver magazine. Can't remember their name. Cost was fair and the job was A+. Looked just as good when I sold the bike 3yrs later. It's all in the prep as to how they will last and look over time. If you go polished, you will have to have them clear coated or you will have to on a constant basis repolish and clean them. Chrome: wipe and go.
My choice: wipe and go.

I statred to polish mine, only have gotten two done so far. they took alot of work BY HAND to polish and that is why I haven't done the others yet. they do look good polished but the constantly require repolishing. I might just get them chromed when I have the money.

Dodgezilla. I don't know if this will take care of your dillemna . But look at www.skygeek.com .
The product You are looking for is Met All . If You see a picture of AF one , and wonder how they get the bare metal to look like chrome .... Now You know One hint ... If You do use it . When You polish the aluminum the metal will get a dull black haze . Take a clean rag with a bit of white Flour, and the haze will be gone . John

I bet that stuff works great but I'd have to get the rims polished before I could really use it. I'm leaning towards chrome if it's not too much $$$.... I have a customer who had some Mercedes wheels done and they looked great..

We'll see......

No doubt about it ! If there are any blemishes ,such as deep scratches ,etc.. ,met all won't do the job . But on undamaged aluminum the finish looks better than anything I"ve ever seen , Chrome included . For durability , I think you are on the right track by considering Plating your rims . John

Durability? Chrome? In the same sentence? You must not live anywhere near salt water or drive on winter salted roads. Chrome is porous so the salt corrosion leeches right thru. Factory chrome wheels have clear coat on 'em to delay the inevitable. If you want durability, powdercoat is the way to go. Some like my flame red wheels, others don't, but one thing is sure, I don't see another one! JOIBO!

Be careful with the 03 rims...there's a safety recall on some of them

Got the wheels today and they are not the recalled ones!! Can't wait to put them on.....

The wheels look really good so I may just leave them as they are. Plus my A/C is crapping out on the house so there goes any expendable cash I may have had.....
