Because it would steal too much flow and psi from the motor.

 

Oil bypass systems do NOT need to be full flow; they are actually partial flow. If you were pumping full flow oil, you would have a significantly lesser amount of oil available for lubrication and cooling of internal components. IIRC, they like to use ~ 0.050" orifice to limit flow and keep oil pressure higher in the primary oil system.

ok, so I'd be ok w/a 2micron filter, 1/4 lines run from the primary filter thru the 2micron and then into the filter cap? I'm guessing the orifice goes pre-filter? Where can one obtain the orifice?
So caping the line going into the filler cap and drilling the smallest hole in it is out of the question? thanks for all the info!

 

The amsoil mount has the orafice in it... But I run the amsoil 2 mic absolute filter on the BK203 (BMK-11 mount) with 1/4" ID hydraulic hoses (locally made), so yeah, I think thats a good setup.

 

Thanks for all the info. Where have most of you connected the input hose for the bypass? I thought the 2nd gen factory filter housing had a port but it doesn't seem to.

With the price of oil these days, I can't believe more people wouldn't run a bypass setup much less the dealers install them from the factory.

there is a port on top of the stock oil filter houseing.. 1/8 NPT

Have any of you guys decided to start selling any of these driver side mount designs? I'd rather buy one than mess with trying to get one made at a machine shop. Most of the shops here refuse to work on anything automobile related due to liabilities, etc.

I've had the rest of the kit for over a year, just no way to mount it!
