x2 ^^^^. I will just say what everyone here is going to post. 1. There are several Threads on this. 2. You will most likely not gain much if any for your truck. 3. Don't need it till you are way up in HP numbers. 4.Stock air filter has been proven excellent in filtration and airflow. 5. Alot of people get tired of cleaning and oiling oil filters. 6.Some just buy a spare for when there other one they cleaned is drying. 7. Some will tell you Amsoil, Volant, S&B, K&N , there all the same. 8. Some will make a comment about my over the K&N. 9.They all work about the same. 10. Save your money.

P.S- Same goes for exhaust!

I like my S&B.
As said above, it won't gain you much if anything at all, it sounds pretty cool though.

I really like the AEM Brute Force HD. It's dry and has a lot of surface area, but most importantly, I've watched my brothers and it's doin a great job of what it's supposed to do...filter air.

A little history, motivations that drove me through the intake process I experienced with my 2006.

I live at 7K ft altitude so the air intake is rather important. I also do an oil sample every oil change. My first mod was gauges, I wanted to get real familiar with the truck stock.

When I did my first oil sample it was a little high in the silicone range, so I got an Amsoil nano drop-in filter. My second oil change the silicone level was down. I noticed a little lower EGT's with the Amsoil drop-in, my fuel mileage was right at 15mpg average running empty and towing mix.

I installed the PSM mod - air intake tube that goes on the bottom of the stock filter box to down below the fenderwell, and also the Cool Blue Hose (torque tube). My next oil sample was pretty much like the second one, so drawing air from the front of the fenderwell did not increase silicone, but, my filter was pretty dirty as compared to running without the PSM mod. My fuel mileage was up to 16 mpg average. I was at the time not sure if that fuel mileage increase was due to more air intake or the truck breaking in, but, I really had not changed my driving habits and use of the truck, the dirtier filter made me re-think getting my air from the front of the fenderwell.

I decided to get an aftermarket replacement 'box', so I checked all of them out via discussions on the forums, couldn't make up my mind, but I did take the time to break down the 'flows' of all the filters that were being used. Right about the time I was looking at all that stuff was when the Ice Box Intake was coming on the market. I liked the fact that the filter being used was an Amsoil nano filter that had a good flow rate, in fact, better than many of the others and no messing with oil, etc. So, in short, that's what I bought, the Ice Box. The Cool Blue Hose fits nicely with the Icebox, that's what they sell with it, but since I already had one, it saved me a buck in the changeover to the Icebox.

My next oil sample was better than all those before installing the Ice Box, my EGT's dropped more, and my fuel mileage is now right at 17.5 average with a mix of both running empty and towing.

I still use a pre-filter on the filter because my area is very dusty pretty much all the time and I live on a dirt road, drive lots of them as most roads here in New Mexico are dirt/gravel once you get off the main roads. My filter is not signifigantly dirty when I clean it like the drop in was with the PSM mod.

If I had it to do all over again, I would possibly have done the *****'s Whistler - it came about after I installed the Ice Box Intake. You can use an Amsoil filter with it, and also use the pre-filter. The only thing that would make me hesitate on the *****'s is that I do like the box construction of the Icebox, the filter is not just sitting in a wide open area. We get snow and ice here in the mountains and I would worry about that building up on my filter if it were as exposed. Maybe someone who has the *****'s will comment about snow, ice or rain and what their experiences have been??

To me, it's all about filtration and flow, both should be the best you can get. Then secondly I might go to appearance. I think the Icebox has a nice appearance.

Hope all that long-winded explination serves to help you with why I chose what I did. Ultimately you will have plenty of input about several systems you could be thinking about.

I'm with BrokeSolid,
I'm not a big Banks guy but I gotta tell ya there air box is top notch. The fit is perfect not like alot of company's that I have used in the past. I really like the air scoop! It definitely drop the egts. The price is up there but to me this one is worth the extra $$$.
See ya,

Nope, I've got one too. Only difference is mine cost me 20K+ and came with a free truck

Looks like a pretty good unit, but I haven't looked at it too close yet top be honest.

Me too. I think that was the first mod I did to my truck, like 85,000 miles ago. Honestly I just went with it, over the others at the time.......because everybody on here seemed to say good things.

I have been extremely happy with the fit, finish and filtration. And, it still sounds like a JET ENGINE!!

I sample my oil fairly often....and my silicon level has never been over 4 PPM with the AFE Stage 2. (that is half of the reading I had with the stock box/filter)

i only paid 320 for my brand new banks kit. i don't think that's too "up there". i currently own two of the only three banks products i would put on my truck. i'm not a big fan either, but i like their hard parts.

oh if i could afford it, the technicooler is the other one.
