I would replace it with a K and M filter you will hear the difference and performance will be much better.

First off look at your minder to see how much restriction there is.
That will tell you when to change it.

As far as replacement
Paper (stock filter does a good job of filtering)

If you want to upgrade for more flow

Many differant oppinions

Scotty uses foam with good results
AFE,K&N, and others may or may not flow better and may not filter as well as paper
Some require a complete air box to be installed.

Some drill holes oll over the stock air box.

Depends on what you want out of it, and how much $$$$$ you want to spend.

Good luck

There is no way to judge how long the filter will last. Driving and enviroment conditions are the biggest contributors. I couldn't wait and had to take a peek at 22500 miles and about 2 years on mine and it looked bad but the guage says it was still flowing enough air so in it stays....

I try to keep it simple. I change my oil every 7,500 so every other oil change I do the Difs along with the fuel and air filters. So I change mine every 15K whether is needs it or not. My filter minder hasn't ever moved, does it work?

IMHO it's not as if it is a tough decision replacing the air filter early since the Fleetguard air filter costs only $15 at Cummins and it takes less than 5 minutes to do the switch.
