Adding ATF+4 through shifter

I replaced the atf+4 in my manual tranny tonight. I used Castrol synthetic. I have been reading that if you tow a lot you need to add an extra quart through the shifter to keep the front bearing cool. How easily is that done? thanks

I looked at mine once, considering doing the same thing, but it looked like a real PITA to remove the cup holders and everything else associated with getting at the top of the transmission.

I would think it might just be easier to either jack up the drivers side of the truck, or even drive it up on run-up ramps to tip the tranny enough to add some extra.

I do have a question though. Why are you using a ATF+4 in your manual tranny? I just changed my fluid and I used Redline MTL in mine. This was the second change and I am real happy with the Redline MTL.

Because thats what the G56s call for, ATF+4, heck they pretty much use it in everything now.
I need to do the qt overfill too, just havent wanted to open up the shifter yet. Getting the interior plastics out is cake, I just dont want to spill anything or make a mess inside since these seats stain if you look at them wrong.

You don't need to add an extra quart with the g56.

I'd rather not have to add the extra......I'd hate to spill on the interior. Thanks

It's very easy to remove the cup holders and shifter. I cleaned all the plastics when I removed it. Now it looks new again.

I just put my finger over the bottom of the fill hole and squirt it in. (It helps to put a hose on the end of the bottle tip) When you get enough in, throw the plug in and tighten it down.
