BDS 6" lift questions

Hey guys Im kinda new here and have some questions I hope you can help me out with, I have searched and feel more confused than I did when I started. I think I have decided on the BDS 6" long are kit but I have a few concerns and they are below I am not real sharp on the whole offset backspace thing
Truck 2005 Ram 2500 4-door manual trans 4x4
1. on the BDS website it says 36" tires are the max with this kit will 37"s fit with the below wheels?
2. I guess you need the wheel specs they are Motometal MO 909's
Size 17 x 9
Backspace 4.53 inch
Offset 12mm
3. Is BDS the only place to order this kit from??

Thanks in advance

Your going to want more back spacing then 4.5 inches on a 9in wheel. Your going to need around 5.7in with that size wheel

You can fit 37" tires without a lift, so you can certainly fit them with a 6" lift. Check out this thread: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/ti...-big-meat.html

Fitting 37" tires has everything to do with the correct backspacing of the rim, not the amount of lift.

Certain lifts may cause the tires to rub. If the kit does not offer axle forward control arms your tires are more likely to contact the rear fender wells.

My only option in that wheel is to go up to 20" wheels
they will have the following
size 20 x9
Backspace 5.71
Offset 18mm

any problems you guys see with this other than the price goes waaaaay up and wont more off set bring the wheel in towards the center of the truck?? will this cause issues with rubbing suspension components? thanks

If you do alot of offraoding I would stick with a 18 in wheel. When you go up to a larger wheels you are going to lose the amount of side wall on your tires.

It's very hard to say if you will rub or not. Not all tires are the same, even though they say 35x12.50x18 or whatever your looking at. Some tires are actually bigger or smaller, wider or skinnier. So there isn't really any one perfect setup.

I really dont want to go with 20" but the 17's I want do not offer the correct backspacing so what are the problems with using less backspacing I assume the odds of the tire hitting the fender go up so if this is correct couldnt I just go with a 35" tire and all would be good??

Ok someone please correct me if I am wrong here
2005 stock backspacing 6.25" so if I move to 4.5 the wheel will stick out about 2.25" more than stock so if I aslo add the bushwacker pocket fenderflares which add 2.5" of coverage wouldnt that be about perfect?? or is there another reason not too use 4.5 Backspacing? thanks again

The fender flares are only going to offer coverage from trowing rocks and debris. They will not do anything to prevent rubbing.

You are on track with the back spacing. To far out and you can contact your fenders, to far in and you can contact your control arms.

Reducing the tire diameter will likely not do anything for you. The width of the tire is going to still create areas of contact.

Checkout the RevTek 6in axle forward kit. It will recenter you axle in the wheelwells, and also give you and index ring to lengthen your drive line once you push the axle back to the front of the truck.
