Accelerator pedal troubles

Guys, having a issue with my acc pedal on my 03
It seems to be sticking, it has always seemed hard to push and very rough but as I understand its just a wiper and flyby and not a cable ( havent had a chance to crawl under and look) so does anyone have any ideas what to look for?
How about a link to pics or breakdown of how the parts work without the cable set-up?

Dang that looks bad!!!! And all this time I thought we were "driving by wire".....meaning a small wire running a "sweep device" so to speak. Your driver side battery must have been in horrible shape!!

Well in a sense we are.....
but its a cable to the apps under the battery.
Not an easy feat getting the jesus clip in under the dash that holds the cable in place, one of those I can see it but cant reach it lol
Pic makes things look much worse than they are, mostly dirt and staining but for what ever reason the cable jacket rusted out and allowed the cable to bind and stick.
