Acceleration "stutter"
[QUOTE=mucknet;1129924]'06 with 2800 miles, and I have the same thing.. I noticed it the day after I bought the truck
It seems to go away when I put ~1000 pounds in the bed or on the hitch.
The pinion angle on 3500's is set for the truck to be carrying a load, so unloaded the angle is off slightly, giving the shutter. I don't get the shutter at all when pulling a trailer but have the shutter when empty. The dealer can change the angle if you mostly run empty. There might be a TSB from 2004 about this

Well, I picked my Mega Cab up tonight and they have no clue what to do.
The tech wrote that I have oversize tires and should go back to stock and retest. Well, it did it with the stock tires also....
Here is EXACTLY what my sheet says..
Tech test drove and put on hoist. Removed front and rear drive lines. Vehicle has oversize tires and on takeoff pinion angle changes which causes the drive to feel the bending of the u-joints. Goes away in 4x4. Tech recommends putting on stock tires and retesting.
WOW... Great work tech dude....
Oh, and now my stereo doesn't turn on... dunno if that's a coincidence or not. It's an Alpine and it worked fine when I dropped the truck off.
Another thing that I found odd.. When I got there, the first thing the service writer did is pop the hood and look around... I get the feeling they are not mod friendly
I did get the high idle tsb done- It's cool
So, if you guys get a handle on it, let the rest of us know.

guys i have a 06 3500 dually to and i have had nothing but trouble with it. i pull a 50 ft wedge take 3 trailer with mine and since i got it it has a bad shudder when takin off iv had it in the shop 23 times.seems knowbody knows how to fix it
bad luck
bad luck
My 06 had the same prob...went to the dealer and was told there was a shim kit to fix this prob with the driveline angle..dc knows about the prob. I was in and out in about an hour free of charge, under warranty..
Got mine back from the dealer yesterday. They replaced the entire drive line from engine to rear end and shimmed it.
Low speed acceleration is "almost gone" to the point i can live with it. Haven't had the opprotunity to hook the gooseneck to it yet.

I first noticed a shutter when I installed my Firestone air bags unloaded but air pressure adjustment seemed to help the problem, then when I lifted the rear with two inch blocks it became real apparent there was a universal joint alignment problem now I've ordered a carrier bearing shim kit from Rocky Mountian Suspension and I'm waiting for it to get here. After I get it installed I'll let you know how the shutter/vibration is. Thanks for the TSB if I can't figure it out I guess I'll take it into the dealer and see if they tell me "your the one who installed the lift you fix it"!@%#

The newer trucks need to have the carrier bearing shimmed at least 1/2" if they're going to be running around empty, even part-time, or the U-joint shudder will leave ya on the side of the road, just a question of when.
Lifts or airbags/overload springs exacerbate the problem.
Tire size is irrelevant, as apparently double-digit IQ was to hire that tech...
