Stutter under acceleration

Hey guys looking for some information here, I have a 99 QC 2500 sport 4x4, straightpiped, missing silencer ring, modified air box, and superchip programmer, 305/70/16 on Mickey Thompson Classics. Here lately I just started to notice under hard acceleration the engine seems to just basically loose power and start missing at about 2100 RPM not always there but around that, if you never get on it and just baby it, it drives perfect..Then last night I was on the Highway cruise set on 70 and it started missing, not bad but just would miss maybe every 5 seconds, then I slowed down a little to 65 and it was fine,,,,I had the superchip on level 3 and thought maybe that was the problem so I turned it sown to level 1 and still have the same deal,,,What is up with this thing....Any suggestions would help, Thanks Guys

What is your fuel pressure? Pull the codes from the engine at any autozone (or the like) parts store (free) and find out what codes you have. If you don't have a fuel pressure guage my first guess is you have toasted your injection pump ($1,200 - $1,600) due to a bad lift pump ($160 - $375)

Fill out your signature so we know what you are driving, what mods you have what guages, miles, etc.

not tryin to discredit any one but have you thought about the basic like checking the air filter fuel filter any thing thats simple and easy to check and not automaticly thinking every time a 24valve stumbles the liftpumps falling out of it. on my 01 it ran like a rock for a day and i opend the air box and my poor air filter needed changed many moons back and it runs like a top again

Guys I just looked at my records, fuel filter was changed 6,000 miles ago, I installed a K&N air filter about 4,000 miles ago, I have only put 9,000 on the truck since I bought it, I will go out and check the codes, I can use my Superchip for that,,Where is the fuel pressure test port located? And I beleive the lift pump works, when I changed the fuel filter I bumped the starter several times and the lift pump runs for about 20 seconds each time, then after about 5 times the truck started...so that seems to work...

Unfortunately that only tells you that the lift pump works, not how well it works many people have had lift pumps that work at idle but can't push enough fuel while driving.

Guys, I was just playing around some more today, I checked the codes I got a code P0216---Injection pump timing failure,WHAT causes that code????????????,,,I removed the superchip and returned it to stock and pulled the K&N air filter and dropped in a new paper filter I had,,went for drive no change,, and the code P0216 came back,,I am just not sure what causes that code need a manual,,Any suggestions??????? Thanks

That code means your injection pump is finished.Sorry to hear that because you have only had the truck for 9,000 miles. I havent had to replace mine yet but I think just the pump itself is going anywhere from $1,000 - 1,400.

Injection pump failure is directly connected to lack of fuel pressure. Because you hear the LP running does not mean it is pumping enough fuel at the correct pressure and volume. While you are having the truck fixed get a fuel pressure guage installed in the cab and understand what the readings mean. Use the search function for lift pumps and you'll have hours of reading.

The supership was causing you to use more fuel than your weak LP could produce causing the IP failure. Very common. Time to get guages if you are going to bomb the beast.

Sorry about that, good luck.

Could a p0216 code be caused by improper injector pop-off pressure? Just kinda thinking out loud here. I havent gotten my codes read but, I also have a slight miss at higher rpm's. I hope that it is from not getting the injectors pop-off pressure checked and adjusted after the install last night. If it is the IP it will be getting replaced with a hrvp.

With no fuel pressure guage I would bet you are in the same boat. The IP is more than likley toast.
