70 mph viberation after 90K miles
70 mph viberation after 90K miles
I know there has been alot of talk regarding driveline viberations however up to now I have not had an an issue.
Yesterday I was driving down the road, I stoped for fuel and when I got back on the road....bam...I had a viberation that startes at around 65 mph and goes away at around 75.
As a test I put the truck in nuteral when the viberation was at it's worse and it did not go away until the truck slowed down to below 65 mph
Today I rotated and balanced my tires and the viberation is still there....Any ideas?

Check your ball joints. Mine are starting to get out of spec at 93k and I am feeling vibrations around 65-70. Not bad yet, but new ball joints are on my list after the first of the year. Oh and I just balanced and rotated tires just to be sure.
vibration
I just had my front shaft done yesterday, Even the machine shop thought it looked alright, until they got in to it, one joint was dryed right up.I had the vibration at 65-70, will see sat. if its still there. 2005 114,000 miles

I am going to check my u-joints in the morning...I just got back from the store and I swear I heard some clancking when I first start out that was not there before.
One question I have is if I have a bat u-joint would the viberation still be there when coasting in nutral?

I did more testing today and it seems like the rear u-joint is bad...clicking when moving forward slowly and squeaking when going slow in reverse....I am replacing both rears now....I will post the results tonoght but I feel good about this being the issue
I had a weird vibration I couldn't figure out, turned out I replaced the drivers side unit bearing, and that slowed most of the vibration, but there was still a little one. Turned out one of the rear universal joints was dried up. Replaced it and it is good. Nothing is cheap for the front ends. The unitized wheel bearing was 200.00 and the U-Joints are about 40.00 a piece for the driveline. Scotty
