6lbs fuel pressure

Here's the deal.
My gauge shows 6 lbs at idle and drops to 0 with moderate throttle. It has been doing this for a few months now. Is this normal for a lift pump going out ? I would not think it would last this long acting this way. BTW I have the filter mounted pump w/ 210,000 miles on it. I would assume bad pump, BUT how is it STILL GOING ??
One more thing... I don't have nearly the black smoke I used to with the quad on 100. Would this be why?

Are there any Cheap options ?? I know, know, don't go cheap, but I need to for now til I can afford better. I don't mind spending a lil now to make it til spring. Thanks

Last time my '03 did that was during a trip through Kansas this past summer. Parked and camped (5th wheel) at a closed shop, where I had them change the fuel filter the next morning. Nope, didn't have tools/filter with me.
Back up and running just great. Bad fuel! I'm hoping for you to have only the same issue.

You can get a replacement filter mounted pump from Geno's. Probably the cheapest option.

Yes, Geno’s has the stock pump for a good price.

Yeap, your LP is on it's way out. Just go with a Raptor 100 or Airdog 100. Don't goof around with that stock pump. Waste of money.

X2, but I have the FASS and like it. Anything will be better than the stocker. See the DTR store.

How long has it been since you changed the fuel filter?

Just wondering, because if you are taking your fuel pressure reading after the filter and the filter is getting full it would cause the same problems.

I am amazed how long that pump has lasted you. I know of many that failed around 50k miles. My favorite aftermarket pump is the Walbro kit sold by Glacier, but there are many different kits to choose from.

I am suprised also, considering all the stories I hear.
I am hoping that the problem is just the filter. I'd love to be able to run this pump for another 50,000 miles just to say I did.

is there a cheaper pump we can mount in the frame rail and tie into existing fuel suction line? or would you have to remove old lp in tank first? i know theres raptor, airdog, glacier but what about any industrial/automotive type fuel pump as long as it puts out 10 psi roughly?

WOW. I changed the filter today. Now at idle is about 8lbs, but stays to at least 6 under moderate to heavy throttle and only sucks down to 2 lbs at sustained WOT.

Guess my STOCK fuel filter mounted lift pump will keep on kicken past the 210,000 mile mark. :-)
