Engine air compressor

Hi folks:

Wondering if there is an engine air compressor that can be bolted onto the 5.9. With the air bags, horns and other accessories, I would rather feed off of one on the engine then have a whole bunch of compressors bolted on the frame. Now, I AM open to ideas and suggestions that some of you may have either by first hand experience or through other folks you know out there in Diesel Land.

Thanks!

Tom

I'm sure there are plenty compressors mounted on 5.9's in large trucks. Just look at a truck shop.

Kilby makes a complete kit or you can buy the mounts and supply your own York compressor.

There are several out there, but stand by they can become a major investment.

Try http:/www.pacbrake.com They have air compressor kits that are reasonable and are designed specifically for mounting on our trucks. My E-Brake came with one.

What he said, I'm also using the Pac Brake compressor and an Airlift Wireless controller for my air bags, it's a slick set up.

I always preferred the mechanical style like Kilby's. Has more CFM and better duty cycles than electric. This is handy for anything like rafts, air tools, and can still be used for the smaller stuff.

I have a York compressor on my rockcrawler. I made my own mount, sourced an air tank and all the parts to make it work. I can air my 36 x 13.50 IROKS from 4 PSI to 30 PSI in about 6-7 minutes for all four. There are some good electric compressors out there you just have to look at the duty cycle and the CFMs that the put out if you want to use them for air up tires. Most of the time the electric will work fine for small components like air bags, exhaust brakes, or ARB lockers. It just may take them a while to fill a tank.

Yes the Kilby kit is $$$ but it gives you everything you need to mount it up and have a nice OBA system.

Many thanks to all of you out there! I think the Kilby system is what I will get. I plan too use air tools and other accessories so it WILL get a good work out.

Thanks again guys.

you dont need to buy the compressor from kildy. York compressors are easily found at any junkyard for 50 bucks. Many of the items Brad (kilby) sells are also sourcable from other places. Grainger has the intake filters, home depot has the lines and fittings. i would get his 90 degree york mounted fittings tho and his pulley for sure.

OTH, Brad is a nice guy and makes nice products, so throwing him your money isnt shameful
