I just took my truck in for a passenger airbag cover cause it was dented and they were going to try and figure out the vibe. They said DC told them to check the pinion angle. I told them that thats not going to be the problem but they can check it if they want. Then I mentioned to the Service Manager about the front exhaust bracket and how its hooked to the tranny and that unhooking it fixed a couple of other trucks with the vibe. He said ok they would try it.

Later that afternoon I went to pick up my truck and he said we replaced the airbag cover and checked the pinion angle and it was ok so we unhooked the front exhaust bracket and for me to give it a try cause they didn't have a chance to go drive it. I said ok

So I went and jumped on the highway and ran her up to 72mph guess what it took care of about 80% of the vibe. I'm tickled to death that now I can run in the 70's without my hands going numb ! !

Hmm I wonder what it would take to get a t-case warrant-eed? I really want a new tcase I am tired of dicking around with DC.... I still cant get over the fact that they put my caster out of alignment by a full degree and now it steers like 3-wheeler.... I am ******......

Hmmm, I took my transmission exhaust hanger thingie off last night... First thing this morning, I didn't notice anything new... still had the vibe. However, after work, same hour long commute (opposite direction) I noticed that it was vibing a whole lot less. I drove at various speeds between 65 and 80 and was hard pressed to find the vibe like I used to. Now, I wouldn't neccessarily say it was smooth as glass, but a big improvement nonetheless. I will continue to drive it like this to see if today's test stands up against the test of time.

I think the exhaust might definately be part of the equation in many cases. I think it's a frame "tuning" issue that gets aggrivated by ANY input from questionable moving parts.

Yeah, I remembered your post saying that the exhaust is acting like an instrument... I totally agree. It seems that it vibes at a certain pitch, and then when connected to a vibrating transmission, at 70mph the stars align and the harmonics go into symphony mode.

Yeah, I wouldn't say that it's gone, but it is definitely a lot better... I almost have to search for the vibe now. Now I just need to go about finding out how to make a new frame mounted hanger. The exhaust system seems really sturdy even without the trans mount, so I don't know if I'd evben need a new mount, but I don't like the thought of all that weight hanging off the turbo...

I had the same problem. It really showed up under a load. Come to fine out that the drive shaft was bent from the factory. Dealer said it used to be a common problem. Since they replaced the shaft , ujoints and plates, I have had no vibration

My latest try to rid myself of the vibration was to disconnect the bracket from the exhaust to the trans case. Tried it,..no difference on mine. Still got it.

I forgot to follow up the post of my dealer visit! My truck was one of the early '04 trucks that didn't have the "C" weight on the top power steering line. This apparently acts as a "damper" between the engine/exhaust vibration and the steering system.

It fixed my problem, but I still have a lot of vibration in the gear shift (I have the 6 speed). I'm assuming the exhaust bracket that some people mentioned might help that one out for me.
