6 speed clutch

This is my first clutch (love it), but how long will the stock one last? I'm sure it depends on how I drive it... When I was backing a trailer the other day, it was on a hill and I was having to inch it in but after I smelt a strong burning....

Mine lasted 248 miles. I was very proud that day.

When you were backing up, did you rev up the engine before letting out the clutch? If you are also new to diesels you probably did and that will give you the burning smell. If you want your clutch to last forever, then always let the clutch pedal come fully out BEFORE accelerating. No, the engine will not stall. A gasser will.

Search for 2wd LO threads. I love mine. I can move heavy trailers around in tight spots with good control, lots of power, and I can still turn the front wheels without hopping around. I have about $60 in mine total.

I'm not sure if I reved the engine or not. I do know the clutch wasn't fully let out because when I did it was way too fast for the tight spot! I was using the clutch 1/2 way and brake to inch that trailer up the hill backwards.

You might try low range next time and see if that helps.

You should easily get 100k out of a stock clutch with stock fuelin.

But one with a dual mass flywheel will stall sooner than one with a single plate clutch. That's why the idle was bumped to 800 (from 750).

If you let the rpm's drop below 500 on a DMF, the fueling will be cut to keep the DMF from hitting its natural frequency.
