4x4 owners please do this and post result

Please get up under your truck go to the front drive line....put pressure on it in the middle and tell me if you feel any movement, try to move it back and forth. then post your result....

I have a small amount of movement in mine....

I am trying to locate a wa wa wa noise and I am wondering if this could be it.

Does anyone know what it looks like under the rubber boot? what kind of joint is it.....

it should have some play. the wa wa wa sound would remind of the sound of an out of balance tire or something tire-related?

this wa wa sound is at speed consistant or only when the front suspension drops an inch, 1/2 second at a time say for road variations? Hence the wa wa insted if just waaaaaaaa

You could adjust caster and see if the noise go's away?

I heard the wa wa wa "road noise" last year. The u-joint closest to the transfer case on the front drive shaft went out. It split my transfer case completly in half. Not a good thing when your 250 miles from home and pulling a loaded trailer. It cost me $1500 for the repair.

i have minimal slack as well. my front u-joint was goin out last november, and made a constant vibrating sound at between 60 and 70 mph, it was holding on what seemed to be the hardened mud around it LOL. it was a close one.
