48re taking off in 2nd gear?

I have been taking a lot of trips this summer and I have started to notice that my truck will take off in 2nd gear after coming to a stop after a long drive on the hwy. It will continue to do this until it cools down.. I assume it has something to do with the heat? Any clues on what this could be? Otherwise it has been fine.

I will be having my transmission built up very soon. I was just going to do the TC/VB/FP to save some money, but this has got me thinking that I might be better off buying the complete transmission.

Typically that is because the governor pressure solenoid or pressure transducer has a problem. Replace both of them and change the filter while you have the pan off. Fairly inexpensive and easy to do.

Are these parts of the valve body? If they are then I assume that they would be replaced when I upgrade to a better VB.

Yes they are the parts that go into the valvebody. Can't say for sure if they come with the valvebody though. I would think so as troublesome as they are.
