Trans acting funny, Sometimes!!
03 Dodge 3500, with 48RE. I have a problem I have not been able to find anything out about. The truck runs great and shifts great. I drive my truck 70 miles a day to and from work on the highway, thats it. It has acted up since I had the trans serviced at the dealer when I bought it in November with 40K on it.
The problem only occurs after I have been driving the truck, then I stop, either shut the truck off or leave it running not letting it sit for more than 15 mins, as little as 4 mins. When I get back into the truck, it does not want to shift into 2nd and sometimes 3rd. But it only does it once, after that, as long as I dont repeat rest stop, it runs like normal. Recently if I slow down after getting it back to normal it will down shift early, again only once.
It stopped doing it for a while during the winter, but once the summer kicked in it is now more often. Obviously the dealer can not help because they can not duplicate the problem. Also I now have that darn Predator (love it, increased mileage) and affraid if I take it in again they might give me a hard time.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? It seems like a Fluid Pressure issue. Maybe a Torque converter drain back valve, pressure sensor/transducer?
Sorry for the long post but please help!

I have a very similar situation, except after a long drive my truck will take off in 2nd gear and maybe 3rd a couple of times. It really makes me look like an idiot when I'm only pulling 2 atvs away from a stoplight on level ground and my truck is turning 2800 rpms and just barely moving off the line..

Yeah, read the linked post. Sounds like you may have the same prob. Only other thing is if the trans gets hot it may put it into "limp mode" which usually only gives you 2nd and reverse. If it actually shifts out of 2nd, you are probably having the solenoid/transducer problem.
