Southbend Hydx .750 install?

Okay,

Just got my new SB clutch master and slave upgrade, but no instructions! Any recommendations? I am assuming the slave shaft retention clip stays in place? The new master does not have the mounting bracket that goes through the firewall, hose does that work?

Any personal experience on the install would be great!

Oh, its going into a 2003 2500 quad cab.

I would call SB, but I figure they are closed on Saturdays and I would like to get it in this weekend.

Thanks!

Just took a look at the truck. It looks like the hydraulics for the clutch are much different. The upgrade from Southbend has a remote resavoir, and the master cyl. looks like it could be too long to fit. Additionally, there does not seem to be any method of attaching the master to the firewall. What am I missing? Is this the wrong part?

On my truck I took the rubber washer off the stock slave cylender and transfered it to the SB unit. Then put the slave cylender into the firewall and twist and it should lock in. I know those insrtructions are awful but I cant think of a better way to say it.

I just took 2 self tapping screws and mounted my reservoir to my firewall so it sat up straight. The clip on your slave, yes leave it there. It pops off the first time you depress your clutch. Make dang sure that your snap together fitting is all the way in the line or you can't press your clutch in. I had a problem with my master cylinder popping out but that was because it was twisting back out on it's own. I just took some wire and tied it off for now as a quick fix (that has lasted for almost a year DoH) until I figure or just get off my butt to fix it better.

Okay,

Job done! Piece of cake. The manual really threw me for a loop. I pulled the master as it instructed - removing the nuts under the dash. Once out, I realized the master twist locked into the firewall. I swapped the rubber grommet from the factor master, this allowed the cylinder to lock tightly into the firewall.

A couple of observations. The hyd. lines for the 2003 could be a little longer on the SB setup. Additionally, the master shaft (master to pedal) does not clip into the master really well. In looking at what comes from the factory, the shaft is held in place by a cir-clip. If you pull up on the pedal with the SB setup, the shaft will pull out of the socket in the master - not ideal, but why would you pull up on the pedal??

The pedal pressure with the SB setup is slightly less than factory with a factory clutch.

What clutch did you install that required the upgrade?

No clutch yet. The factory hydraulics were leaking.

When I installed mine I didnt swap the rubber washer the first time. Came to a stop sign and hit the clutch pedal and the clutch pedal hit the floor. It shot the master cylender out of the firewall. Got kinda exciting for a second but I popped it out of gear and it was no big deal.

I got my resovior zip tied under there too. Wich reminds me, my engine compartment looks like a rats nest.
