48RE Service
48RE Service
Just got my truck back from the dealer, got the 48RE serviced. They changed the fluid and (2) filters in it. Is there actually 2 filters in our transmissions? I've only read about one. I know I should have done it myself but I have a trip to go on next week and didn't get a chance to change it. On the service order it says "Completed transmission service on 45RFE
. Service writer advised me that it actually was a 48RE service that was performed. I'm a little leary of these "experts". Here's a list of the parts used. Does this look right?

Not sure on the 2 filters, thats the first I have heard of that. I have a case of ATF+4 that i got from the dealer and I just went out to get a part number off of it. it is:
5013457 AA
That matches this of what you wrote: 2 5013457-AA Oil Autom 1081018
But not sure what this means:1 5013458-AA Fluid, Tra 1081018 since it does say Fluid, Tra?
As long as they put in ATF+4 thats the biggest thing. I would go and show them those numbers and ask them to explain which each one means to make sure ATF+4 is in there...

I went to 40,000
, fluid had a slight brownish tint to it, but smelled fine. I didn't intend to go that long, but you know how that is. I'll do it every 30,000 in the future just to be safe.

Yes, the 45RFE is the Hemi tranny. It does have 2 filters. One Pan filter and another can filter that filters fluid that comes back from the tranny cooler. The 48RE only has 1 filter. The pan filter. I flush my tranny every 30,000 and will change the filter at 60,000.
