48 RE no first gear
48 RE no first gear
cooked fluid, changed out, small adjust to front band and rear band from book, then, changhed fluid again,, no first gear, and high rpm shift to 2nd, otherwise it works perfect, no shavings. Whats the deal? 1. Pressure adjustment screw?
2. Shift late early adjustment screw? Front band from bottom wrong adjustment? Or Rear band outside trans adjustment? I am saying rear band /kickdown because that it what controls overdrive and reverse if I am correct. Thing is I tryed many minor adjustments both ways. Seems as if its real hard to tighten the set nut without moving inner screw adjustment . Anyone have any ideas?
Thing things works awesome like it never did before actually, just no first.
I am thinking speed sensor on back of tranny has minor metal fluff on it, going to look there next because that magnet sure had fluff on it. Any other ideas??? I wish they made these trans with a press gauge and the adjustments from the outside I have dropped the pan three times , it gets old fast taking it off and refilling it. Ple4ase help if you can, thank you!!
Ok, going to add to this, here is whats up- (seems like it didnt have first at all) lugs down bad in first and never shifts out of first until its too late(high rpms), I have four gears here, but its too high of pressure I guess. Here is what I think, the pressure governor solenoid has something stuck in it, like debris, or it wont auto range pressure correctly because I cooked it. sound good or bad?
Please help. Thank you. Brad
