4 x 4 Differential ID

OK all you Dodge experts . I want the change the gear oil in my '06 Ram 2500 4 x 4 differentials. I have read the manual and searched this forum for the answer to this question: What is the capacity of these differentials? The capacity depends on the size of the diff. I found a listing for various size diffs; C205FD Front, 9.25 AA Front, 9.25 AA EL Front, 9.25 Rear, 10.5 AA Rear, 10.5 AA EL Rear, 11.5 AA Open Rear, 11.5 AA Trac-Rite Rear, 248RBI (DANA 60) Rear. How does a person know what differentials are under his truck? Is it in the VIN? Do the diffs have tags? I just want to buy the right quantity for the job...............Help a fellow out here!

Mine just took a little less than 7 quarts of Royal Purple 75w90 for both. Just over 4 quarts (around 4.1 quarts) for the rear and little under 3 quarts for the front.

I believe the DR manual calls for 11.5AA rear 3.9L and 9.xxAA 2.53L(somewhere close to this) front. Don't have it here now, but I believe that was the numbers.

All 3rd Gen HO Cummins trucks have the AAM 11.5 in the rear and the AAM 9.25 in the front. The AAM 10.5 can be found in gas models as well as some early 3rd Gen SO Cummins trucks.

Ok now that I have the DR manual this is the fluid capacities for our diffs.

9 1/4 AA 2.25 L (4.75 pts.)

11 1/2 AA 3.62 L (7.65 pts)

Or 6.2 quarts by my math for both.

Now here's a guy that's really on top of things! Thanks a bunch!
This DTR forum is the greatest................no matter what you are up against, there is always someone who has "been there, done that". Looks like I will need to order up 7-qts from my local AMSOIL dealer. I am going to use their Severe Gear 75W-90 Synthetic.

Thanks again. (Let's see now.............there's 2-8 oz. cups to the pint. Then there's 2-16 oz pints to the quart. Then there's 4-32 oz quarts to the gallon. Then there's.................oops, I'm out of fingers and toes!)
