32,000 miles - what to look for before warranty expires?

What should I check on my engine, trans, etc...prior to my warranty expiring?

I have changed the fuel filter twice (every 15K miles), as well as the usual oil changes and air filters.

What are some common problems that I can look for symptoms and make sure they are 'OK' on my truck?

I've got an '04 600 w/48RE, 4x4, as my sig shows.

I do have the bad door weatherstrip, which I plan to have fixed.

Otherwise, the only thing I've noticed is that my fuel mileage has gone down considerably in the past few months. I don't know if it's the cooler weather, lower grade fuel, or what? Is there anything they can check for this?

Thanks
Shawn

Get your dealer to do a flash for the poor fuel mileage. I jumped from 14.5 to
17.5 (empty) after the flash.

Ball Joints! Had mine checked at about 35000. Replaced all four. This was about a 600.00 dollar repair If I had to pay for it but it was covered. This is a real weak spot in our trucks.

I would also check the power steering gearbox for leaks on top, it may not be enough to drip on ground but might be wet.

Where can I look for the leaky CP3 pump?

I will check the ball joints for sure...I've got an annoying low speed squeak/rattle from up front, and can't locate it.

Hopefully they don't complain about the leveling kit.

They can leak anywhere. The most common spot is under the pump at the bolt.

Did you just say " Check my ball joints.", or did you notice a problem??

I am wondering the same.

Can you just have them inspect something without a symptom? Or does there have to be a problem?

I put ball joints on my '04 at 13k miles. Just tell the service dept. "tires are wearing funny". Check the rear driveshaft slip yoke, some are leaking through the splines then out the small plug next to the u-joint. If you haven't replaced the doorseals yet get a new set with the cutout. Check the transfercase oil, if it is black get a new transfercase. Drop the driveshaft and check for seized u-joints. Have you had any flashes to update your ecm? Long crank times, white smoke on start-up, poor fuel economy, poor a/c performance. Steering column bushing causes in-out movement of steereinjg column. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help, I'll definitely check the items listed.

The door seals are bad, definitely need those.

The transfer case is used a lot, I wouldn't be suprised if it's black. What is wrong with the Tcases that causes them to go bad? It seems to work well.

I haven't had any flashes to the ECM.

What is considered a 'long' crank time? Sometimes it is harder to crank then others, longer than any gasoline engine I have, but doesn't seem too irregular.

I did notice a tad bit of white smoke once when I first started it up. Happened with a low tank of fuel, after sitting for a week, and parked nose-down on an incline. Not sure if that matters. Other than that, I haven't noticed...but haven't really looked either. What is the cause of this?

Haven't noticed any irregular steering column movement. A/C seems to blow cold.

Thanks again
